Strangetown, Season 3 - Specter

Next up: the Specters!
Previously: Nervous was reunited with his mother. They get along great, but he finds their home even creepier than the Beakers’.

Ophelia and Johnny come for a visit.
“Still with the green boy, eh? He put a ring on it yet?”
“Nope! Still waiting on that one.”
“Well, tell him to get a move on. You can’t follow in my footsteps as the black widow of Strangetown without a husband now can you?”
“Auntie! You’ll freak Johnny out.”

“So that maid, huh? Fine piece of meat- am I right?”
“Mom! You don’t have to try and set me up with every man we meet. He might not even be, uh, like me.”
“I’ll find out for you. Hey! Remington!”
“Mom, no!”

Nervous is growing up to be a very sensitive young man, and loves animals. He adopted stray cat Zoe to join his puppy, Molly, and is looking to befriend some of the local wolves, too. He likes to take care of things.

Here’s Zoe! She’s a really cute cat.
I’m wondering about having Nervous quit his job and become a pet-trainer.

“Bella dear! How are you doing? … Glad to hear it, and how is Cassandra? … Oh, I’m fine. The boy’s brought home another animal … A cat this time. Hopefully it’s the only one, I don’t need the neighbors calling me a crazy cat lady as well as a witch!”

When she played with Zoe a little, though, Olive couldn’t help wondering whether being a crazy cat lady would be all that bad.

Nervous really didn’t like being bothered by the ghosts. They sent his nerves on edge, and his pulse skyrocketing. He was too afraid to broach the topic with his mother, though. She hadn’t told him the story of how all the graves came to be here, and he was a little afraid to hear the truth.
Then one day, the fear, stress and anxiety all became too much for him to handle.

“Nemo? Nemo!”

“My love, please! You’ve already taken so much from me. Nemo is my son! Our son!”
“You know I don’t choose these things, Olive. The boy was simply weak.”
“I don’t believe that. You always take away the people I love just when I’m beginning to be happy. Why?”
“How else am I supposed to visit you?”

“Please, my love, spare our son. There must be some other way.”
“There is, but…”
“I’ll do it.”
“Very well. Pick a hand. One contains our son’s life.”

“You win, welcome back, my son.”
Nervous blinked. “…Son?”

The Reaper turned back to Olive. “Now my love, in exchange… I must take your life, instead.”

“It’s always terms and conditions with you, isn’t it?”
“I’m sorry, Olive.”
“No, it’s okay. I’m old, I’ve lived my life. And now, we can finally be together.”

Nervous felt himself, not for the first time in his life, fall to the floor in despair.

fucking hell

Making some changes…
I’m thinking of adding more houses to this corner and basing it loosely on Paradise Place in the PSP game.
