Strangetown, Season 3 - Gieke-Beaker

Erin was living with Chester Gieke, a shy but lovable nerd she’d become rather fond of. She was almost a little sad to be moving out!

“Hiya Penny! Yeah, I should be ready to move by the end of the week… No, that’s okay, I’ve got company over… My ex, but he’s also a good friend. He’s really cute, it’s a shame he wasn’t so into it… Sure exes can be friends!… Wow, right, Widespot sounds like one hell of a town.”

(Erin’s want panel right now… Poor thing falls in love so easily and never falls out of it.)

Erin’s latest promotion was giving her another chance to exhibit her psychic powers. They were what was controlling the dummy, obviously!

Dear Diary,

I got demoted at work again today. It feels like no matter how hard I practice, I always stay a n00b. Maybe the life of a pro-gamer isn’t for me? I’m placing last in the tournaments, nobody’s watching my streams… I don’t know.

Money’s tight, and with Erin moving out, it’s going to be even tighter. Erin said when she was starting out she had a lot of trouble holding down a job, and only got her gig as lounge singer recently. That made me feel a little better. At least I haven’t been fired, yet. I’m going to miss having Erin as a roommate.

She’s helped a lot in making me comfortable around other people, I think, women especially. I never dreamed I’d get to a point where I had two women interested in me! They’re both such career women, too. I don’t know what they see in a loser like me.

I’ll have to end it with one of them, of course. Chester Gieke, the player? No way. Not that kind, at least! I know Erin’s into the whole poly thing that’s all the rage now, but that’s definitely not the life for me.

I really like Bianca, I think. Lola’s great too, of course, but she’s honestly a bit intimidating. I don’t think I’m on her level at all! I’ll have to break it off with her, I guess. I’ve never done a “break up” before. Hopefully she doesn’t cry or anything. (Why would she, though? It’s only me. I’m nothing special.)

Even worse than Erin leaving, she’ll be taking the cat with her! Chester likes animals a lot, and decides to adopt a stray dog called Zoe.

Erin liked hanging out with Nervous and Kent, but at the end of the day they were both gay and sometimes a girl needed to get her flirt on! So she invited Darren over. She could always count on him for a good time, and their discussions about art afterwards were wonderful, too.

Chester had invited Lola over that afternoon so that things could be a nice clean break, but he hadn’t counted on Bianca swinging by.

Things escalated with Bee. He lost track of time. Lola arrived. All hell broke loose.

“Look, Lola. I didn’t mean for you to see that!”

“You invited me over!”

“I forgot, okay?”

“Well, I’m not going to just let you cheat on me like it’s no big deal. We’re over, Chester.”

“That’s fine! I was inviting you over to break up with you anyway.”

What? And you chose to do it like that?”

“No, like I said, that was an accident!”

“That’s for stealing my future trophy husband!”

“I’m sorry! I didn’t know he was yours!”

“He’s not any more.”

“Erin, you okay? You’ve been in there a while…”

“I’m good, just a bit of a stomach bug. Go pee in the sink if you need to go.”

“Okay… let me know if you need me to run by the store and get you some painkillers or something.”

“Actually, Chester? Could you buy me a… pregnancy test?”

“So… do you know who the father is?”

“Yeah, spill! Who’s the baby daddy?”

“I’m… not sure.”

“Woooo! You go, slut.”

“This is serious, Chloe!”

“Well, yeah. But is it really a bad thing? You were thinking about having kids anyway, weren’t you?”

“Yes, but not this early. This whole thing with Laz and Penny, I don’t even know if it’s going to work yet, and if the baby’s Darren’s it’ll throw even more of a wrench in things, and-”

“Okay, girl, chill. Breathe. We’ve got your back.”

“Yes! And if you need to, I’m happy for you to stay here longer while you work things out.”

“Thanks, guys.”

“Hi, Pen. Is Laz around? No? Shit… Yeah, it’s kind of a big deal… I- I’m pregnant!… No, it’s okay, you don’t need to come over… It’s fine… Thanks. Okay, see you in a 20.”

“Good news or bad news?”

“I don’t know yet. Penny’s coming over.”

“Listen, Erin. This isn’t going to be the end of the world. Lazlo isn’t Street’s father, but it doesn’t matter.”

“That’s different. You hadn’t met Lazlo yet.”

“Well, Lazlo is in a relationship with both you and I, and it’s an open one! He has nothing to be angry for, it wouldn’t be logical.”

“Maybe not, but people aren’t always that simple.”

“That’s true. But you’re being honest with us, so I don’t see the problem.”

Penny’s view of the situation was so uncomplicated it was reassuring. If Penny thought the matter was simple, maybe it was.

Penny sent Erin to lie down and set to work doing a few chores for her, to make life easier. She remembered well what being pregnant was like, and bending over to clean wasn’t fun!

“Here, I made us something to eat.”

“Thanks, Penny.”

“So I spoke to Lazlo while you were asleep.”

“Oh?”

“Yeah! He’s still happy for you to move in. It’ll be easier than staying here, they’ve got a lot of baby stuff Tycho and Street aren’t using any more. And there’s lots of space, lots of spare hands…”

Penny ended up staying for most of the pregnancy, (thanks that glitch when sims just won’t leave the house, although luckily it was fitting here,) but unfortunately left just before Erin gave birth.

It was a healthy baby boy, which she named Bear. (Thanks for the suggestion, @dunne-ias!)

And she’s off! Erin moves to the Curious lab, bringing Bear and her other baby (her dear, sweet kitty!) with her.
