Pleasantview, Season 3 - Broke

“Hi, Mr Dreamer! Are you here to see mum?”
“What, Mrs Broke? No, I was just passing by-”
“Come in! We’re having spaghetti.”

“Oh, hi! You’re Dirk’s father, right?”
“Uh, yeah. Your son invited me in.”
“That boy! He’s got a habit of inviting in random passers-by, I have no idea why. I guess I have him to thank for most of my friends, though. Let me go put on some proper clothes.”

“It’s weird, we’ve been neighbors all this time and we’ve never really got to know each other.”
“Well, I’ve usually been pretty busy what with Beau and Mia… single motherhood’s not just a full time job, it’s 24 hours!”
“I can relate, although thankfully Darleen only left me with the one.”
“You don’t wish you’d had more?”
“I don’t know, I think that ship’s probably sailed by now. I’m rapidly approaching elderhood!”
“Uh-oh! That didn’t seem to stop Morty Goth, though.”

Brandi allowed herself a moment of quiet pride as she put Mia to bed. There’d been a time when she worried she was a crap mother, and her children were better off without her. But Dustin had turned it all around, Beau had grown up wonderfully, and now Mia was blossoming into such a smart little girl, so curious about the world.
She smiled. All things considered, she’d done pretty well.

With Mia in bed, things started to get a bit more intimate between Darren and Brandi. They were both a little lonely, and could relate to one another’s past loss. It didn’t hurt that Darren was gorgeous, either.

Brandi had always wanted to start dating again, maybe even remarry someday… but she’d always sort of hoped John Burb might leave his wife so that she could make a move on him. Yet it was becoming clear to her that her crush on John wasn’t going anywhere. She needed to move on.

Love was also blooming between Beau Broke and his girlfriend, Ivy.

Keep at it, Mia! You’ll get that A+ if you keep studying hard.

Everyone’s thrilled when it snows! Beatrice Monty and Ariel Capp come home with the Broke kids to enjoy the weather, since snow is rare in Veronaville.

Fun in the snow! I really enjoy taking pictures like this.

Mia likes to imagine it’s that horrible burgler she’s pelting with snowballs. She’ll get her revenge for real someday!

Alexander came to visit, bringing his girlfriend along as always. Meadow ended up playing in the snow for hours until she looked like a zombie.

It was Mia who wanted a bird so much. It nearly bankrupted the family but I figure the Brokes aren’t the best with money so I let them have at it. It helped Mia gain that charisma point she’d been wanting!

Dustin invited Angela over for one more night together before they both left for college.

Brandi makes a booty call that day, too.

And love struck! It was the first time Brandi had felt like this since Skip had died. She’d had a crush or two, yeah, but nothing like this.
It was difficult not to fall in love with Darren. He was kind, attentive, creative, talented. And the best part was he was available!

I moved Dustin out to college really hastily without a party because I suddenly realized he was aging up the next day and his job would interfere with sending him to college.
Beau waves goodbye in his underpants.

Final day with the Brokes, and it’s a snow day! The family take it easy.
