Strangetown, Season 2 (Autumn) - Specter, part 2
“Ah, Nervous. What brings you to my humble abode?”
Olive had struck up a friendship with this young man, as of late. They both enjoyed a friendly prank or two and could often be found causing mischief on community lots.
She had to admit, it was nice. She’d spent most of her life as this sophisticated, glamorous, mysterious woman that everyone wanted at their parties, but in her old age she was beginning to let her hair down and enjoy life as a bit of a crackpot.
“This is going to sound a bit weird… but I think you might be my mother?
“I’m afraid I don’t understand. I did have a son once, but… aren’t you the Beaker’s boy?”
“I’m their test subject, actually. It’s a live-in job. Or it was.”
“Was?”
“They kicked me out. I don’t really understand why…”
“Well, you’re welcome to Ophelia’s room if you need it. But what makes you think we’re related?”
“So I have this second job, in, uh, crime?” he looked at her as if waiting for her to say something, but she just shrugged, “and my co-worker ran a DNA test, so…”
“They have me on their system?”
“They have a lot of illegal DNA records. Apparently you were a ‘person of interest’, once?”
“It’s possible, I suppose… you do look a lot like my son Nemo. But I’d like to get an official DNA test at some point to make sure.”
The good of living with Olive (it still felt too weird to actually call her ‘Mom): She let him to adopt a puppy!
The bad: There were ghosts everywhere?????????
“Hey Nervous! How’s it going? I wish Loki had told me you were leaving, I just showed up at the mansion and had the most awkward encounter with Circe. Why did you leave?”
“Loki said I’d ‘over-stayed my welcome’ and they no longer needed me.”
“What!!! That’s so sad!”
“I’m okay.”
“Well, good! I’m sorry my brother’s so mean.”
“Listen, Erin. About our whole dating thing…”
“Yeah?”
“Um… see… it’s not that you’re not really pretty, and you’ve always been so nice to me! But I think… I mean I’m not sure but maybe…
“I might be gay, Erin.”
“Oh? That’s okay, Nerv. It’s fine!”
“It’s okay? But didn’t you say you loved-”
“I love you, yeah! But I love a lot of people, and it’s okay if you don’t love me back. Love should be given freely, without any expectations. We can go back to just friends if you like!”
“Thanks, Erin.”
“No problem.”
