Strangetown, Season 2 (Autumn) - Grunt, part 2
Buck Grunt didn’t fancy a big birthday party, and grew up quietly one evening whilst tending the fish. (He was borrowing Ripp’s clothes, but quickly bought his own.)
He was getting on okay with his father. Buzz was helping him with homework, encouraging him, giving him the occasional spontaneous hug, the works. But Buck was always upset when he say Buzz fighting with the aliens. He was like he turned into another person, so different from the caring (if stern) father he knew and loved.
Romance was awkward, of course. Buck had grown into a family sim and was desperate to find his soulmate, but didn’t seem to have much success, and found himself envious of how effortlessly his older brother befriended girls. (Of course, Ripp was just as unsuccessful as Buck in reality, but he told a lot of tall tales.)
One area in which Ripp was successful, though, was his career. He might not have liked his job, but he’d stuck with it, and his determination had rewarded him.
The family were doing well financially, too. Buzz had revived a massive bonus at work. Ripp wanted to buy “a hot tub or bar or something” and Buck wanted to redecorate the house, but Buzz insisted the money was going to be saved.
