Pleasantview, Season 2 (Autumn) - Lothario, part 2

So, go over for dinner the Goths did.

Cassandra was happy to see them, of course she was, but she did wish her mother would have called, first. The house was a mess

“It was their birthday, and you didn’t invite us?”

“I’m sorry, Mom! Don and I have been really exhausted, okay? The twins are so much stress, and we’re both working full time…”

“Well, we’re here, now. Let me know if you need us to babysit, honey. We’re always happy to help.”

“In that case…” Don started, “could you maybe watch the kids now? I’m falling asleep on my feet here, and Cassie looks like she’s about to collapse.”

“Well… okay. But Cassandra, you have to come over when you get the chance. We have so much to talk about!”

Bella was already starting to regret her offer to babysit any time. The twins were lovely, just lovely - but God did they stink.

Cassandra couldn’t help but put off seeing her mother. She loved her, and of course she was glad to have her back! But the fact that they looked the same age now…? Honestly, it creeped her out a little. Bella disapeared from her life, she’d grown up, and for her Mom to return looking identical? What the hell!

Not to mention, Bella could have a slightly overbearing personality. She didn’t mean to be, but Cassandra was a sensitive soul, and her Mom had no tact at all

So she put off going over for dinner, and invested time in her other relationships.

Not to mention, she was exhausted! Training and caring for the toddlers was turning into a nightmare, and the fact that the kids seemed to hate each other didn’t help.

“C’mere, kidlet… there you go! I’m so proud of you. Now, I’m putting you to bed with your brother, and I want you to sleep, okay? No crying and whining. Daddy and Mommy haven’t woohooed in days, and we’d like some quality time.”

“Bernado’s walking, now?”

“Yup! He had a good teacher, y’know.”

“Oh, I know. But enough about the kids. Look at my outfit! Aren’t you going to pounce me?”

“I was just waiting for an invitation!”

Oh, it had been too long

“When I grow up, I’m gonna be an alien.”

“Son, it doesn’t quite work like that-”

“Why not? I wanna see the planets.”

“Well, maybe you should be an astronaut. But never mind that. Cassandra. I am dying to know how you and Mr Lothario got together! Tell me everything.”

“Well, uh, we met at the police station when they were questioning us about your disappearance.”

“Oh my! Was he in any trouble?”

“Nearly, but they couldn’t prove any links between him and the aliens.”

“That’s good. But how did you get together?”

“I don’t know. He kept flirting whenever we bumped into each other at the bookstore, and it just sort of took off from there.”

“Then what? I want all the juicy details.”

It was so weird, Bella talking to her as if they were school friends. Maybe they looked like they could be, but Bella was her mom! Cassandra was not talking about her love life with her.
