Pleasantview, Season 2 (Autumn) - Broke, part 2
On the other side of Pleasantview, someone was celebrating a birthday!
(Mia Broke’s transition was a little glitchy.)
And she wasn’t the only one! Beau was finally aging up, too.
“So, Mia,” Dustin had asked. “What do you want for your birthday?”
“I get a present?” she’d replied, wide eyed.
“You sure do. Your big brother’s been saving specially. What would you like? A teddy?”
“A telescope!!!”
“A telescope? Aren’t you a little young to be-”
“Please?”
“Hey!” Beau interjected, “how come you didn’t get me anything?”
“Hey, I got you that easy oven when you were a kid. You’re a man now, little bro, so suck it up. It’s time you got a job, too. Gotta contribute to our poor-ass family funds.”
Brandi’s friend Bianca Monty visited the house, with some words of advice. “Here’s a better idea than letting that kid take on job, Brandi. Come work for our family diner! We’re only hiring adults, and you’ll make more money than Beau would on his own.”
“But… what about Mia?”
“Beau can babysit! Honestly, Brandi, you need to get out the house. It must be driving you crazy.”
“A little,” she smiled. “Okay, you’ve convinced me. When do I start?”
Beau grew into a family sim, and wasted no time using his newfound freedom to leave the house and meet new people. His quest for “the one” had begun.
“So I’m after my first kiss right now…”
“Well, here’s a tip from me. Maybe don’t start conversations by talking about how much you wanna get kissed?”
“Sorry, I’m a little new to all this.”
“Hehe. I can tell.”
“It’s just, you’re really pretty, so like, I guess I am sort of nervous?”#
“Heh. It’s okay. Saying I’m pretty is a start.”
“What if I also told you you were super sexy?”
“Hmmm. That’s maybe a bit too much.”
“Oh! Sorry.”
“You live in the goth house? Isn’t that the spooky place with all the ghosts?”
“It was, but Daddy moved the gravestones after they killed Mommy.”
“Your Mommy’s dead?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh. Sorry. My Daddy’s dead, too. Do you think they’re both ghosts, now?
“Yeah Ripp, I know it’s a nice day, but I’m meeting Angela… Sorry, sorry. Next time, okay?”
“Do you want to eat, before you go? I’m making salad.”
“Salad? Fuck off. Me and Ange are getting some real food down at the Montys’. Double date with Romeo and Juliette.”
“Oh, okay. Say hi to Mom for me.”
With Dustin out, Beau had a small gathering of friends over. His romantic advances with Ivy were still a little clumsy, but she was patient with him. She liked how honest and open he was.
Dustin wondered if being burgled (by one of his former coworkers, no less!) was karma’s way of biting him in the ass.
The pinball machine had been the first thing he’d bought with his ill-gotten paycheck, and it had provided countless hours of entertainment for him and his siblings. He’d miss it, but… maybe it was only fitting it ended up back in the criminals’ hands.
