Pleasantview, Season 2 (Autumn) - Broke

That round’s finally wrapped up, and we’re back to Pleasantview!

Last time…

I’ve been jumping around between hoods and families a lot to keep my interest, and can’t promise I won’t do it again. This round is going to be with aging off, for the most part, simply because so much happened last round and I’d like to slow things down. I’m not too bothered about keeping ages consistent, so long as it’s all roughly correct.

The Brokes were doing okay, all things considered. Dustin losing his job had been a blessing in disguise, and Brandi finally had him on track with his homework.

Beau was always helping around the house, often pushing himself too far. Taking out the trash in the hail? Yikes. Going in and out of the house so much had it’s perks, though. He was able to get a read of the mushy poems Angela sent his brother!

Mia Broke is growing into quite the cute toddler! They can’t afford a changing table, so she’s never out of those cutesy panda PJs.

“A story? All right, sis, it’s 5am and I have homework overdue, but why not. There once was a little princess named Angela, uh, I mean, Sophia. Hey, Mia, you even listening?”

“What’s all this noise, kids?”

“Dustin had homework, and I couldn’t sleep!”

“You kids. So much energy! Come here, let’s have a boogie, if you’re so awake.”

“Yay!”

“You too, Mia! Whoopsie-daisy!”

“Don’t throw the baby, Mom.”

“It’s fine, Dustin, she likes it! Do your homework.”

Nina was visiting more and more often. She didn’t talk about it, but Brandi could tell she missed Dina, and didn’t like being alone. Of course Brandi was never alone, but she could relate.

“What about Don? How’s he doing?”
“Oh, I don’t know. Since him and Cassandra got hitched, I don’t see so much of him.”
“I still don’t understand why he married her! You guys are triple bolters, right?”
“Yeah, but… I don’t know. She’s from a rich family, I guess.”
“He doesn’t love her?”
“No, he does, I think. But, well, it’s Don. He’s in love with everyone.”
“I’m sorry.”
“No, it’s okay. I-”

“Hey, Mom! I got an A, I got an A!”
“That’s wonderful, hon.”
“Yeah!” Nina chimed in, “congratulations!”
“I’m gonna call Angela, she’s gonna be so proud!” he yelled, rushing off.
Nina sighed. “Teen love, huh? Things were so much simpler then.”

Things were looking up for Dustin, in a big way.

“Hey, Beau. You don’t have to eat muffins all the time, you know? Just tell me when you’re hungry and I’ll make you something.”

“Okay, but I’m not burned-grilled-cheese-hungry. I’m muffin-hungry.”

“If you say so. You done your homework yet?”

“I’m reading.”

“Come on, bro. I’ll help you out. You don’t want to end up like like your big brother, do you?”

“I wanna be just like you!”

“Heh. Trust me, you don’t.”

Angela was still keen on Dustin, with the two going on regular dates.

Dustin was so in love with her. All the positive chancges in his life, all the hard work? She was his inspiration. Hell, she was the whole reason he’d joined the athletics career.

He was going to get the pictures framed, and hang them above his bed.

“Hey, Ripp! Over here!”

“Yo, Dustin. Gutsy move, introducing your lovely girlfriend to a ladykiller like me.”

“Oh, get over yourself. Have you even had your first kiss, yet?”

“Dude! I’m getting to it, okay. The girls and boys are practically lining up. Just gotta pick the right one.”

“Ripp’s Lilith’s friend, right?”
“They’re pals, I guess. I’m sure he’s not taking against you.”
“Hmm. Maybe.”

They danced a little, enjoying a comfortable silence.

“I think I’m gonna apologise to her.”
“Who, Lilith?”
“Yeah!”
“You already tried that once, didn’t you?”
“Yeah, but we still keep getting into fights!“
“Well. Apologising doesn’t mean anything if you don’t address the root issues, you know?”
“Ooooh! When’d you get so wise?”

“Hey, come on, old lady! He was just nuzzling me, it’s not like we were full on making out! Dustin, a little help.”

“What do you want me to do? Punch out an old woman?”

“Yes!”

“So, did you hear? I got promoted again.”

“Pretty cool! You’re doing so well, lately.”

“Thanks to you!”

“I don’t know about that! You know, sometimes I miss that bad boy I had a crush on way back when.”

“Come on, Ange. It wasn’t as glamorous as it seemed. And I was never going to get into college if I carried down that path.”

“Oh, I know that! I’m glad you’re moving forward in life. But the criminal thing was, you know… hot!”

“Well… if you ever want to play sexy cops and robbers, I could be your guy.”

“UUURP! Ah, um, excuse me.”

“Hah! Better out than in, aye always say!”

“Dustin?”

“Yeah?”

“Please never do that Shek impression again.”

“So, can I… come home with you?”

“Uh, sure. Let me just call a taxi?”

“I bought some condoms the other night, I’ve got some in my purse.”

“Holy shit, okay. I’ll tell the taxi driver to step on it.”

Ok, he could do this. He could do this! It was only the girl of his dreams, naked in bed with him, with his family in the next room.

Shit, was this seriously happening? He was the luckiest guy on the planet, it was official.

It was their first time and it wasn’t perfect, but Dustin was going to get better at it, he promised himself. Angela Pleasant was the most beautiful sim in the world, and he was determined to make her happy. He’d get into college with her, get a good job, and give her the life she deserved.

“Hey, kids. You done in here?”
“What the hell.”
“You’re not as sneaky as you think, guys! But don’t worry, I distracted your Mom. You’re welcome, by the way. I’m always down to help someone get laid! Hope you used protection, though, wouldn’t want to be responsible for a teen pregnancy.”
“…can you leave? We were kind of having a moment.”

All Dustin’s hard work was paying off!

“Wow, your house is so small!”
“Is it?”
“Yeah! But I like it. The pink walls are pretty.”
“I’ve never been to other kid’s houses, I thought they all looked like this.”
“Why not? You’ll have to come over to mine. Granma’s always throwing these big parties.”
“That’d be fun, but I don’t know. Mom might need my help.”
“With what?”
“You know! Dishes, mopping, helping her with Mia…”

“Could you read me a bed time story?”
“Just a sec, dear. I gotta finish bathing Mia, put her to bed, and oh, crap, the kitchen’s a nightmare, and-”
“Never mind, Mom. I’ll just go to bed.”
“Sorry, Beau.”
