Year 1 - Autumn - Mondegreen (Margery)

With the Men at Arms done, let’s take a look at the little house I built for Margery! It’s nicer than a peasant hovel, but only cost $15,000 (yeoman holdings are usually 30-35k) so that she has some spare cash for the tavern, too.

Despite his high status in society, I imagine Sir Roberte being bad with money, so it’s nothing too fancy. (He is clumsy and a loser, according to his traits. Maybe the type of fortune sim who is mainly into spending rather than saving.) It’s certainly nicer than the little fishing shack, though! And she gets it all to herself :D

The Orange Octopus, named for Margery’s favourite colour and heritage as a fisherman’s daughter. It’s rather simple, but there’s room upstairs to expand if the business does well.

(I also had almost no good/functional cc for bars and ended up having to use the expensive-as-fuck maxis one, haha. I’ll have to hunt for something better.)

Since Marg’s meant to be a brewer, I set her up with a single wheat field. Sun & Moon doesn’t have any beer brewing sets yet (as far as I know), but I figured it’d be nice to at least pretend she is doing some farming and brewing for her ale stock. Unfortunetely it needs to be fertilised in spring. Whoops! Ah well.

I teleported Roberte over, since I figured he’d want to help he new wife settle into her home. They got down to business immediately, lol. Good for them!

Business is slow for the first day, with the patrons spending more time playing cards than buying drinks. Maybe I need to get rid of that thing! Roberte comes along for moral support, and her sister Helen also comes by to see the new tavern. Not sure Helen should really be drinking again when hse is pregnant, but she seems to love ignoring midwife advice.

Back home, Margery’s not feeling too well. She’s pregnant, already! Taking care of the tavern is certainly going to be more difficult now…

The actual alcohol mod is so funny. No, Elliot, Margery is not your true love just becasue she poured you a drink. She’s your boss’s wife!

Margery gets some new clothes, with a preg morph and everything! And Bryanna shows up to be midwife again. She only hopes Margery will be easier to care for than her sister…

Fortunetely, Margery’s quite content to take it easy and let other people take care of her. She messes up Bryanna’s careful leaf raking, but at least she’s not trying to chop wood.

Thori has been passing by a lot, apparently worried about Margery. He’s not really mad at her any more, apparently, but still has a soft spot for her. Where was her husband? Too busy training soilders to care for his pregnant wife?

Nice to see Finley drop by to see his sister, too. I love playing regular lots that aren’t home businesses!

Bryanna is able to guide her smoothly through the delivery process, and pretty soon they’re both welcoming Timothy Mondegreen into the neighbourhood!

Timothy is a yeoman like his mother, but might get a greater degree of class flexibility than a typical yeoman, since his father is a gentry knight. He could potentially marry a merchant or gentry girl, or enter the knighthood career and earn a higher status that way. Or maybe he remains a yeoman like his mother. We’ll see!

With her sister and the midwife present, Margery has time to nip to the tavern and get back to work. Those taxes won’t pay themselves!

Yay, child support! Thank goodness, she really needs the cash…

With plenty of babysitting help from Roberte and her family (I am using the ask to watch kids mod), Margey’s able to get back to work quickly. We ended up having to sell the poker table to cash (and so that sims would order drinks instead of just playing cards) but she just about made it!

I’m so excited to have the tavern up and running, since with the weather getting cooler sims probably won’t want to always be hanging around outside. Now they have a place to drink!
