Year 1 - Autumn - Glanndour

The final household of the round is the Glanndours! After some trouble getting started initially, they’ve got a good flow going this autumn. They brought quite a few new skeps from the Dowricks, so they’re able to collect a lot more honey now! Then they’re brewing that honey into honey must, which can be used for making mead… they have to be careful to save some honey for the winter though, in case any of the hives surcumb to starvation.

After a rough start to teenagerhood, Hilda seems to have calmed down a little. It turns out cuisine is her one true hobby, so she’s taken quite nicely to her job as a cook/maid over at Morgreen manor. At home, she’s started taking on much of the cooking duties, too.

This autumn she was also comissioned to cook a meal for the military, a task she fared quite nicely at! With the money from this, plus her salary, she was able to pay off the assult fine she incurred for attacking Helen Harwood and avoided jail time.

Plus, she’s no longer enemies with her little sister Maiwenn! Things are really looking up for her.

I’m still figuring out what to do with the elder twins, who are now adults. They ought to be marrying off, but neither have really found anyone they like.

Nicola is particularly problematic. She’s got decent chemistry with Finley and Micheal, but as the older sibling she can only marry yeomen or above. She’s also a pleasure sim with the “mooch” trait - I think she’d like to marry rich if possible! But there aren’t a lot of options for her right now. Maybe once we unlock the merchants and some more soilders move down, one of them will catch her eye.

As for Bryanna, she’s had her hands full with her new job as a midwife. The rules for her as not quite as restrictive, but her marriage prospects aren’t looking too great either. Her best chemistry match and closest friend is Alexander Harwood, but he’s pretty devoted to his wife.

Meanwhile, Bermund has finally become a Master Apiarist, like his father. He’s also met a peasant woman, Emma Benthey (actually the garden club NPC) who has caught his eye! The family is already huge and Bermund is already pretty old, but he’s a family sim so still might be interested in remarrying. We’ll see!

At the village green, old Lambert and Esther Bouldre spend some time together. Lambert’s not sure how much time he has left, but now that his son finally understands the work of an Apiarist he can relax and enjoy being semi-retired. He can date a little. Spend more quality time with the grandchildren.

By the end of the round, after brewing honey must, drying tea leaves, and more, the family finally have a batch of mead ready to brew! It’ll take 5 days though, so hopefully it’ll be ready by the end of winter… (and hopefully they’ve got enough honey leftover to keep the bees alive!)

They’ve also branched out into making candles with the wax, which will hopefully sell well in the cold winter months. The beekeeping industry is definitely one of the more complex Sun&Moon sets, but I’ve gone from dreading the Glanndours to quite enjoying them :)
