Newly-engaged, Layla has a negative memory of going steady, but a positive memory of the engagement. I figure maybe once she was over the first commitment-hurdle, she was actually able to feel good about the second?
lmao, this is so on-brand for Layla? Secretly hating a coworker who apparently likes her enough to invite her out stargazing?
Kurt has been staying at home with Scarlett a lot and gradually losing all his friends (see below) so decides to invite them all over for a party while Layla’s at work.
Layla’s a little annoyed to arrive home and find the front-yard crawling with guests (and Scarlett completely unattended!) She just got promoted to Suveillance Operator at long last, and was hoping they could go out to celebrate, but apparently Kurt already made plans…
Whatever. She’ll go out and celebrate by herself, then.
Layla: Hey, Abe! Long time no see! Want to get out of the tub and join me for a dance?
Abe: Sure thing, hot stuff.
Okay, maybe Layla’s behaviour tonight wasn’t ideal. She’d had a few too many drinks, maybe, and they got carried away in the hot tub then went to finish what they started in the photobooth… but she and Kurt were in an open relationship! Sure, they’d never really sat down and discussed the terms, but it wasn’t like she’d done anything wrong.
So why did she feel guilty?
Abe: Right, I gotta get going. I have a big meeting tomorrow, I was meant to just have one drink then get an early night!
Layla: Haha, yeah. I should get going soon too, Kurt and the kid will be wondering where I got to.
Abe: You have a kid now???
Layla: Uh, yeah? I mentioned the kid, right?
Abe: I don’t think you did. Anyway, there’s my taxi, gotta run. Nice catching up.
Evil Witch: We meet again, dear.
Layla: Augh! Why are you always showing up at the end of my dates? Here to threaten me again?
Evil Witch: Actually, no. While I find your attitude brash, I see now that your heart is in the right place. I might be able to help you out with your investigation.
Layla: Really? That’d be sweet! I dig the new look, by the way. Way better than the silly dress and pointy hat.
Evil Witch: Thank you. Our coven’s been doing a bit of a re-brand. Anyway, dear, I’ll be in touch.
Layla: Hey, angel. Don’t cry… mommy just had a late night.
Layla spends some time with Scarlett, while Kurt’s at work. She knows they probably ought to have a sit-down talk, but she’s not sure she’s ready to face him yet…
Layla: Uh, hey, aren’t you the women who pickpocketed me while I was pregnant? Yeah, I’m not really in the mood to talk right now, I’m trying to potty train my daughter here.
Scarlett isn’t a particularly demanding toddler, she’s easily entertained and gains skills super quickly thanks to that genius trait!
Kurt doesn’t really get promotions, but he always comes home from work looking happy, so I like to think he’s moved on to editing music videos like he always wanted. He’s not really picked up on Layla being off with him recently, he’s too busy working on trying to juggle parenthood with maintaining old friendships. Maybe another party is in order?
It’s a familiar scene. Layla, arriving home exhausted from the most important day of her entire career with a fresh promotion, and finding Kurt has just thrown a goddamn pool party.
Kurt doesn’t notice Layla heading to bed early, too distracted by the abdunance of pretty ladies in swimsuits. He gets a lot of points with Teyona when she spots him playing with Scarlett.
Their nanny, Claire, doesn’t seem too impressed.
Al: No way, you did the music video for Cleo’s last single?
Kurt: I just did the editing…
Al: Wicked, I know a few people who could use a good editor, I’ll put you in touch.
Kurt: Wow, thanks!
