I think it’s finally time to meet our founder: Duncan Huckleberry! Pretty much everything about him, from his facial features to his stats, was randomly generated.
A sports fan, bookworm and romantic, Duncan has hisorically been extremely lucky with the ladies. However, his luck recently took a sharp downturn when he was caught in bed with his roommate’s girlfriend and promptly kicked out of their apartment. Jeez, it’s not his fault he’s such a great kisser?
But, you know, it’s whatever. He’s a sagittarius and everyone knows they don’t like to stay in one place too long anyway! Those fifty dream dates ain’t gonna find themselves! Maybe there are some hard-working career ladies out there looking for a good time? Or plantsim girls? He’s always had a thing for green…
Despite his distant, mean-spirited, fuckboy persona, deep down Duncan is kind of insecure & neurotic. The idea of ever getting really close to someone and losing his independence freaks him out, and he’s sabotaged pretty much every relationship he’s had, including friendships.
Is Robin River the place where all that changes? Or is he destined to keep making the same mistakes?
Duncan had come to Robin River for a fresh start. Didn’t get much fresher than a brand new town full of brand new faces, right?
He doesn’t have much in the trailer, just the essentials. The hardest thing to move had definitely been the book collection - they were so heavy! He has a (kinda crappy) TV, but prefers sitting down with a good novel. He’s kind of an intellectual, you know?
Not a lot of jobs in the paper, but hey! The Bull Riders looking for a new mascot? He can totally do that!
Duncan: Hey! You one of my new neighbours? Dang, if I realised there were ladies like you living here I’d have moved sooner!
Shenene: Oh, I’m not really a local…
Duncan: Figures. You’re way too well dressed to be from a trailer park.
Duncan: I actually just got signed with the Bull Riders!
Shelene: Oh, wow! What position do you play?
Duncan: Uh.. doesn’t matter! All kinds of positions. Hey, you wanna help me practice?
Duncan: All right, you win! I’m not about to hit a girl. Hey, did you see that girl skulking around the porch? Is she a local, or do you think she was trying to swipe my folding chair?
It’s not long before the rest of the welcome wagon shows up, and he meets some actual neighbours: Erin & Aiyanna!
I didn’t get this girl’s name, but I feel like there’s a story here, with the chapel in the background there. Runaway bride???????
Duncan: So, this might come as a suprise, but I don’t usually entertain three ladies. Uh… tell me about yourselves! Erika, was it?
Erin: It’s Erin. I work in the city, but I visit on weekends from time to time. My Grandpa owns land out here.
Shelene: Is that the new Felicity Joyeuse volume on the floor? I’m just gonna borrow it for a second.
Duncan: You said you work in the city, yeah? What do you do?
Erin: Oh, I’m company president.
Duncan: Woah, shit.
Erin: Don’t be intimidated. We’re just a small firm, honest.
Duncan: What about you?
Aiyanna: I do home video editing! Don’t laugh, okay? It’s a real job.
Duncan: I’m not laughing! What kind of home videos, anything exciting?
Aiyanna: Eh, it’s mostly weddings & toddlers.
He has chemistry with all three women, but scores highest with Aiyanna. They started flirting without me really doing anything, haha.
Duncan: You’re sneaking off?
Shelene: Just getting some air!
Duncan: That’s fair, the mac & cheese smell in there is pretty potent. We haven’t had much chance to talk, though! Like, what do you do?
Shelene: I’m a State Assemblyperson.
Duncan: No kidding. Wait a second, is this some kinda political visit?
Shelene: Maybe! With all the young people moving to Robin River it’s good to get out there and meet new voters…
Couple of cute townies I spotted. The townie pool is by QueenofFrance!
Blonde Townie Guy: Hey, are you guys having a party?
Duncan: Uh, sure, I guess? Wanna join us?
I forget the guy’s name but he spent the party bullying Erin they suddenley started romancing some other walkby when I wasn’t looking? Duncan’s got competition!
Erin: It’s getting late, I’d better get going. But it was great meeting you.
Duncan: Yeah! Really great. Could I get your number, or…?
Erin: Sure! Give me a call sometime!
Shelene stayed over, but it’s not what you’re thinking! She just got into bed & went to sleep instead of heading home, haha. Too much to drink, maybe? Duncan took the couch, anyways.
Aiyanna: Suprise!!! I’m not stalking you, I swear. I just live next door.
Duncan: Damn, that super shitty trailer?
Aiyanna: Hey! It’s only a tiny bit worse than your sorry excuse for a home. Are you hungry? I was gonna go get greasy diner food for breakfast if you wanna come with.
Duncan: I love greasy diner food. Lead the way, babe!
Duncan: How does someone become a professional home video editor, anyway?
Aiyanna: I went to film school! I used to want to be a director, but I was always the best at the post-production stuff. I had a gig in advertising for a while, but eh, the 9-5 isn’t really for me. Freelance doesn’t pay as well just yet, but I don’t feel like so much of a total sell-out at least?
Duncan: Want to come back to my place?
Aiyanna: Kind of! But the thing is, I’ve got a client who wants me to edit their skiing holiday videos & I’m nearly finisheed… maybe we could meet up later? I’ll buy you a drink at the saloon?
Duncan: Sounds good to me!
Duncan: There you are!
Aiyanna: Heh, have you been here all day waiting for me?
Duncan: Maybe. Just getting to know the local scene…
It isn't a very long date!
Duncan: I’m not usually a woohoo on the first date kind of guy…
Aiyanna: Sure you’re not.
Duncan: I’m serious!
Aiyanna: If it makes you feel better, how about we count the party as our first date, the diner this morning as our second, and this as our third?
Duncan: Damn, girl, put on the brakes. This is moving way too fast for my liking.
Duncan: Will you kill me if I say I have to get to work?
Aiyanna: Love em and leave em, eh?
Duncan: I’m sorry, I gotta go. My team needs me.
Aiyanna: Pahahaha, what are you wearing? I thought you said you were the Bull Riders’ star player!
Duncan: I am! They just don’t know it yet.
