Honeycoast
A new neighbourhood I am currently working on! I have recently been thinking that Hollyhead, my supernatural neighbourhood is the perfect size, but the utopian tone and BACC ruleset feel restrictive at times - especially for storytelling. I've been really inspired recently by more everyday/realistic feeling neighbourhoods, and wanted to build something that would suit that tone.
I plan on playing the neighbourhood with a large cast of playable families, but only a few in the "spotlight" at any given time, similar to how long-running soap oprea function (at least in the UK). I'm going to do this using Lazy Duchess' Story Progression mod, to simulate the families that aren't actively being played and keep everything in sync! This will hopefully help me avoid "filler" households that don't have anything interesting going on storywise - an issue that plauges my traditional TS2 "rotational" style neighbourhoods.
I am still currently working on building up the lots and creating the sims, but I have finished the "decorating" part of making the neighbourhood. So while I'm working on the rest, I thought it'd be nice to share some pictures so this page isn't just sitting empty.
The entire neighbourhood, viewed from the sea! The terrain is originally the lovely Arainby, by Nimitwinklesims, but edited to suit my ~vision~ I'm so happy with how it came out! It's not 100% finished yet, but I wanted to start actually building lots before I got super carried away with the decorating.
An overview of the "West" side of the river, which will be mostly residential. I think this is the cutest part of the town, and plan on putting some houses for the ultra-wealthy on the top of the cliff. They'll have a spectacular view!
A close-up of the old abandoned church. This is one of the highest points of the town, but it's not really accessable by road so I wanted to put something cool there.
An overview of the "East" side of the river, which includes the harbour, town center, and important buildings like the school and hospital..
A close-up of the harbour! It's just little, since Honeycoast isn't meant to be a major port, but this little lowered dock is my pride-and-joy, it took forever to get it working properly!
One of the little decorative houses I think is particularly cute. I'm going to add plenty of "real" lots, but I like how the purely decorative ones look, too.
An overview of the neighbourhood from the highest point on the "East" side! I'll probably replace that building on the bottom-right with a playable hotel, or a bed-and-breakfast.
